Vienna is regularly ranked number one for having the highest quality of life of any city in the world. The city of Vienna is on a mission to become a Smart City by 2050 with its initiatives to include design, development, and perception of the federal capital using a holistic approach. Vienna is incredibly clean, friendly to bikers, and is a cultural hub with the world's masters of classical music like Mozart, opera and waltz hailing from here.
Weather: Vienna enjoys the same seasonal calendar as much of the continental United States. With the Austrian alps close by and Christmas markets to enjoy in December, Vienna is accessible to visitors all year round. Annual average temperatures are between 30-80F.
Basic Style Etiquette for Men and Women: You certainly won't catch anyone in sweatpants and t-shirts here, men and women should dress their best in order to fit in here. Depending on the season you may need your best winter gear, formal attire for a nice dinner out, or casual (but not too casual) wear for the daytime.
Culture: Vienna is a musical innovators dream. Austrians are friendly and hospitable. Austrians share the same language as their German counterparts and you can hear a distinct difference in the way people speak in Austrian. It is much softer.
Shopping: For women: Dresses, chunky scarves, leather anything, khakis and cardigans. For men: Jeans are okay, a nice pair of pants in a different color is even better, and business casual clothes.
Karlsplatz: This is one of the main town squares in Vienna (Wien) where events such as festivals, markets, and Christmas markets are typically held. Being so centrally located, it's also a great place to catch the train.
Wiener Prater: Full of adventure and tradition this is the place to go for a bit of a thrill. We recommend riding one of the park's two Star Flyers, including the world's tallest in Prater Turm (383 feet, or 117 meters) for amazing views of the city.
Dachboden 25h hotel: For a fun night out and a great place to stay, tucked inside of the Museumquartier, visit the Dachboden loft bar and rooftop terrace. Each of the seven 25h hotels are uniquely built to attract the city they are built in.
Safety Tip: Vienna is one of the safest cities in the world. However, use your common sense to keep valuables hidden and away from potential pickpocketers.
