Santa Barbara, California, often referred to as the American Riviera is an oasis of beauty, elegance, and history. This charming town is filled with breathtaking views of the ocean, fresh seafood, award winning wineries, and unique boutique shops. Santa Barbara is the perfect place to relax, reflect, and to appreciate the pure beauty of this world.
Weather: The climate in Santa Barbara is nothing less than pleasant. Year round highs range between the 60-70 degrees in the daytime, and 40-60 degrees at nightfall. Rainfall is expected in the winter months, but the average temperature is still mild at 60 degrees.
Basic Style Etiquette for Men and Women: Relaxed and chic. Women typically wear jeans or shorts and a tank top.
Men wear jeans or shorts and a t-shirt. Bring a light jacket with you, the cool Pacific breeze tends to roll in when you least expect it.
Culture: Santa Barbara is roughly 100 miles away from Los Angeles which makes it the perfect destination to relax or to plan a quick romantic getaway. The SB vibe is friendly and laid back. California-Mission style architecture is a rich part of the town’s culture particularly reflected at the The Santa Barbara Mission, Courthouse, and throughout Downtown. Wander along the beach, go to the top of the Courthouse to see aerial views of the town, and weave through streets in admiration of the landscape, little shops, and eateries. You never know what you will find!
Saturday Farmers Market: Stroll down the beachside with your morning coffee, smell the fresh flowers along the way, and taste the seasonal fruit. It’s a refreshing way to absorb local culture. Saturday markets also have a handicraft section along the beach if you are looking to buy local art or wind chimes.
Santa Barbara Waterfront: The Waterfront is one of my favorite places in Santa Barbara. Take a walk along the entirety of the Waterfront where you will pass by a multitude of flags that guide your way to serenity.
Canary Hotel: This chic Kimpton Hotel is located in the heart of Santa Barbara, and offers an authentic local experience for travelers who want to relish in all things SB. Finch & Fork is a fabulous farm-to-table restaurant also located in the hotel.
If You’re a Foodie: The clam chowder and fresh oysters at Brophy Brothers located on the Waterfront cannot be missed if you are a true seafood lover.
The Summerland Beach Cafe is a local favorite for breakfast. Enjoy a healthy yet savory selection of breakfast foods with a breathtaking view.
Safety Tip: The town tends to get quiet at night. Walk along frequently used paths on State Street or the pier. Avoid walking along areas near the train tracks.
