Weather: The best time to visit Myanmar is from November - February. The Shan State is much cooler, so you must bring warm clothing to acclimate. From March - June, the temperature soars to 100 degrees. The monsoon season ranges from July - October.
Basic Style Etiquette for Men and Women: Long-sleeves/long pants are most appropriate when exploring Inle Lake. Men and women wear dressy-casual attire at night depending on the venue. Lightweight clothing is recommended due to the heat and humidity, however Nyaung Shwe, where Inle Lake is located in the Shan State, and tends to have cooler climates from November - February; light jackets and sweaters are recommended. Men and women must wear clothing that covers their shoulders and legs when visiting a temple.

Lotus Silk Weavers: A local boat operator will navigate you through the lake, to take you to a family operated lotus silk weaving site. Here, you will see how the fibers from the lotus are woven to create beautiful shawls and longyis (traditional clothing).
Silver Smith: Local families thrive on their decades-old silver jewelry making experience handed down from generation to generation. Take time to see how intricate traditional jewelry is crafted using basic tools. Their technique is exquisite.
The Floating Markets: Two types of markets are well worth visiting when you are at Inle Lake. These food and handicraft markets are floating, so their location changes everyday. If you’re a foodie: You will absolutely love the fresh fruits and vegetables that twice fried tofu that is a distinct speciality in Shan State.
Safety Tip:Nyaung Shwe is rather quiet after sunset. If you are not staying in the central area, be sure to ask your hotel for transport if you would like to check out the nightlife.
