On September 27, tourism industry and community development leaders will come together in Washington, DC for a World Tourism Day Forum celebrating travel that makes a difference. This day-long event, “Impact Tourism: Giving Time, Talent, & Treasure,” will focus on how tourism businesses, travelers, and organizations are successfully giving back to destination communities around the world.
Through interactive presentations and panel discussions, the 2019 World Tourism Day Forum will trace the evolution of what was originally referred to as travelers' philanthropy into impact tourism, which today represents a broad array of travel giving programs that are recognized as a core component of responsible travel.
An 8-day adventure starting in Marrakech where we head south to the ancient Kasbah village of Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We continue into the Sahara desert to our Berber camp, complete with a camel ride, oasis excursion and music under the stars. En route back to Marrakech, we stop at Berber women’s textile co-op to learn about the important work they do in their community. Finally, we return to the bustling city of Marrakech, discovering the souks & crafts throughout the medina. Throughout the trip you’ll enjoy 2x daily yoga, fantastic local cuisine, and cultural education about traditions, artisanship and the Moroccan way of life. The trip ends in Marrakech, or you can choose an optional 3-night add-on to Fes and Chefchaouen.
